What a great tagline for an organization – Act Locally, Read Globally! This morning, I listened to the Librarian Linkover podcast by Lorene Kennard, and it really caught my attention. I’ve always been fascinated by the world around me which lead me to get a bachelor’s degree in Geography. In this episode, Lorene interviewed Karen Van Drie, Executive Director of the Global Literature in Libraries Initiative.
I had never heard about this initiative and was fascinated to learn more. I especially liked the challenge that Karen put forth to school librarians to collect two children’s/YA books from every country. What a wonderful project.
You can listen to and learn more about the GLLI and the great work Karen does at the Librarian Linkover website.
